City Government 
Council/Manager Form of Government
Greensboro operates under a Council/Manager form of government. The City Council sets policies and enacts ordinances, which are then carried out by the City Manager. The City Council is comprised of an elected Mayor and eight Council members. Greensboro's mayor is Yvonne J. Johnson.
City Manager's Office
City Manager Mitchell Johnson serves as the chief executive officer for the organization and is assisted by two Assistant City Managers. The City Manager's Office is part of the City's Executive Department.
The City's administrative offices are in the Melvin Municipal Office Building, 300 West Washington Street, and are open Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm.

As investors go through the City’s development review process, construction review process and building inspections, disagreements may occur about what the City’s ordinances, regulations or policies require. These processes do include formal appeal procedures to address such situations; however, the City Manager’s office is always available to hear any concerns you may have. Our goal is to make sure that everyone feels they have been fairly heard in attempting to resolve disagreements.

City Manager
