Register Today! The next NC Accreditation Support Consortium will meet in Greensboro on March 25. There was a great turnout for our first meeting and we will have another opportunity to learn and share information through presentations and networking. US Fire Administration Announces New Campaign for Safety
The Install. Inspect. Protect. campaign is part of the US Fire Administration’s (USFA) effort to reduce fire deaths and injuries across the nation by urging residents to install smoke alarms in their homes and inspect and maintain them on a regular basis. Statistics prove that working smoke alarms and sprinklers save lives.

A working smoke alarm can help you and your family escape a deadly home fire and it can also help save the lives of firefighters who would otherwise have to risk their lives by searching a burning home for occupants. A working smoke alarm continuously scans the air for smoke, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It never sleeps.

The USFA encourages you to practice fire safety and do your part to get out of a burning building before firefighters have to come in.

Easy tips to remember are:
    1) Test your smoke alarms monthly and replace alkaline batteries at least twice every year or as instructed.
    2) Install smoke alarms away from air vents.
    3) Install smoke alarms on the ceiling or wall.
    4) Never disable a smoke alarm or take out its batteries.

If you don't have working smoke alarms in your home, call GFD at 574-4088 today and we will contact you to schedule a free installation.
