Hemphill Branch Library 
Thanks to a partnership with Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art, you will find all the services you expect from your neighborhood library, as well as art exhibits and an ArtQuest studio.

Family Night
- Monday 6:30-8 pm; a blend of family activities including art, games, movies and special guests.

Teen Art Studio - First and third Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8 pm for teens ages 11 to 19.
 
Books & More - Tuesday 4-5 pm; two book clubs for school age children, grades kindergarten through third, and fourth through eighth.

Family Place Workshop - First Wednesday of the month 10-11:30 am. For parents and caregivers of children ages 1 to 3, explore how art, literacy and play work together.

Art Discovery - Wednesday 3:30-5:30 pm; children of all ages may explore a new art material or project each week.

Art Around the Story - Thursday 10-11 am; stories with games, music and art for toddlers and pre-schoolers.

Kapla Blocks - Thursday 3:30-5:30 pm; build extraordinary creations with these anything but ordinary blocks.

Red, Yellow & Blue- Friday 10-11 am; For parents and caregivers of children ages 1 to 3. Discover art concepts through age appropriate activities.

Studio Plus- Friday 3:30-5:30 pm and every second and fourth Saturday 3-5 pm;  painting, group projects and crafts.

Kids Knit - Friday 3:30 to 5:30 pm; ages 5 and up (not just for kids!) learn how or share your skills and knit with friends.


Computer Access
The Hemphill Branch has 25 computers with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Internet access. The computers are available first-come, first-served, for one-hour time slots. When your time runs out, you may reserve the next available computer. A library card is required for computer use. View the Library's computer use policies. WIFI is also available.

Beginners Computer classes are offered Wednesdays from 10-11:30 am.


Book Discussion

  • African American Literature Club meets the second Saturday of each month at 3 pm
  • SW Mystery Group meets the second Monday of each month at 2 pm
  • Benchmark Group meets every Wednesday at 4 pm
  • Literati Society meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 7 pm.
  • Teen Book Club meets on a Saturday each month at 2 pm. Please note that the dates vary.
