 Fly Fishing for Beginners 
May 3, 8 am -1 pm
Cost: $65, Ages 10 & older
This is an introductory class designed to get you started in the sport of fly fishing. We will cover equipment, the five basic fly casting principles, reading water, tying knots, what flies to use, how to rig equipment, and how to hook, play, land, and release fish.

Wilderness Survival Skills Series
Cost: $2, Ages 10 & older
Join us for a series of classes designed to teach you the basics of surviving in the wilderness. 
Session 1 - Emergency Preparedness, May 10, 10 am -12 noon 
Living in the wild can be 95% preparation and 5% perspiration if you are ready for what  you will face. This class is the first in a series of four.
Session 2: Proper Equipment Selection and Care, May 17, 10 am -12 noon
This second class in a series of four will cover the types of equipment any good outdoor enthusiast should always have on hand and in good working order. All supplies will be provided.
Session 3: Shelter, May 24, 10 am -12 noon
The third class in our survival series will cover the techniques, materials and tools needed to build a shelter that protects you from the elements, wildlife, and your own rotten luck. All materials will be provided.
Session 4: Food and Fire, May 31, 10 am -12 noon
The final class in the survival series will cover the methods of fire-making from past to present. You will also learn basic techniques for catching, collecting, and cooking food in the wild.

Nature Photography

May 23, 6-7:30 pm
Cost: $2, All ages
Wildlife photography is much more than shutter speeds and exposure times. This class will cover techniques for “observing while unobserved," the best times of day and year for taking pictures, and the basic equipment you will need.


History of Bur-Mil Park

Established in 1989 through the purchase of the former Burlington Industries recreation facility, this 250-acre park adjacent to Lake Brandt provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities to Guilford County residents. The park is owned by Guilford County and managed by the City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department.
