Events Held in the Public Right-of-Way (streets and sidewalks) Parade

The City has a structured process for permitting the use of public rights-of-way, such as streets and sidewalks.

Events held in the public right-of-way require a special events permit. Apply for this permit at least 60 days prior to your special event (30 days prior to a neighborhood street closing).

All Special Event Permits require you to establish plans for reclaiming recyclable items during your event. Call 336-373-2053 for assistance with those plans.

The Special Events Manager is the primary point of contact for applicants and will assist with the entire process. A decision will be made no later than 15 business days from receipt of the completed application and fee. Approved applicants will receive a special events permit signed by the City Manager.
