Educational Programs

The Environmental Services Department offers several opportunities for teachers, organizations, and individuals to learn about City services. Educating the community about environmental activities is key to the City's efforts to protect and preserve our city and our world. Let the Environmental Services Department tailor a presentation to fit the needs of your group -- all ages and any size.

Transfer Station and White Street Landfill Tours

Tour the City's waste disposal facilities to learn how the transfer station and landfill are operated and what's in place to protect the environment. For safety reasons, tours are conducted from your group's vehicle, so it's best to travel in one bus / van. Call to schedule an appointment.

Household Hazardous Waste Presentation

Many items in your home may contain hazardous materials that should not be disposed of in the City's landfill or at the recycling center. Learn what these items are through a Household Hazardous Waste presentation. A trained professional will help your family, class, church group or civic organization learn how to identify these items and the proper disposal methods for them. Call to schedule and appointment.
