What's Happening at
Jimmie I. Barber Park
:
  • At its June 10 meeting, the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Commission was presented with recommendations for fees at the Sprayground at Barber Park. The recommendations were to operate the facility like a swimming pool and charge similar fees. Recommended fees will be discussed and voted on at July's commission meeting. The recommended fees are:
    • Children 2 years of age and younger - free
    • Children age 3-12 - $1
    • All children age 13 and older - $2
  • Construction is underway at Barber Park. The park renovation should take six to nine months, depending on weather delays. Plans for the facility include new picnic shelters, restrooms / concession stand, increased parking and a sprayground. Construction photos will be updated as improvements are completed. In the meantime, please enjoy the other sections of the park that are available to you, such as the Simkins Indoor Pavilion, disc golf course and the one-mile walking trail.
  • Construction on the Gateway Garden, located less than half a mile from Barber Park has begun. Once completed, additional opportunities will be available, such as environmental education, plant identification and nature's beauty sessions.
