Programs to Discuss Youth and Senior Citizen Tree Awareness

GREENSBORO, NC (October 3, 2006) – The Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch Library, 1420 Price Park Road, will hold the Junior Price Park Rangers program to help youth identify and recognize the importance of trees in Greensboro on Tuesday, October 10 from 4 to 5 pm.

A similar program, Senior Strollers, will be offered on Thursday, October 12 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch Library. All Greensboro senior citizens are invited to attend.

Tree kits donated by the NC Division of Forest Resources will educate program participants through books and educational materials, and demonstrate the best ways to maintain and enhance the City’s urban forest. Donated materials were selected by Library staff, in collaboration with the city’s urban forester, and will be used to promote the message “Trees are more than just a bunch of wood. The Kathleen Clay Edwards Branch Library is the location to find answers for your tree questions.”

Funding for these educational materials was provided through a portion of an Urban and Community Forestry Grant from the North Carolina Division of Forest Resources, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service, Southern Region.
