MPO Allocates Stimulus Funding

GREENSBORO, NC -- (March 26, 2009) -- Greensboro's Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) met at the end of March to allocate the more than $13 million in economic stimulus funding it received from the federal government for transportation improvements (see related announcement). The money was divvied as follows: 
    • $5.4 million to complete the funding package for a new Greensboro Transit Authority Bus Operations, Maintenance, and Administrative Facility 
    • $4.3 million for Lake Jeanette Road improvements 
    • $1.6 million to upgrade South Elm-Eugene Street’s walkability 
    • $1.5 million to repave major streets in various parts of the City 
    • $300,000 for a new trailhead parking facility by the Town of Summerfield for the Lake Brandt Greenway on US 220 north of Strawberry Road.
(Additional sources of money were used on the Lake Jeannette and South Elm-Eugene Street projects as well as the GTA facility.)
