ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Coordinator To contact the ADA Coordinator, for City-owned buildings only, call 373-2723.
Adopt-a-Park Take an active role in the environmental health and appearance of our parks or neighborhood common areas by assisting in landscaping and other activities. For more information, call Parks & Recreation at 373-5868.
Adopt-a-Stop Partner with the Greensboro Transit Authority to help keep bus stops and shelters clean. For more information, call the Greensboro Transit Authority at 373-2182.
Adopt-a-Stream Commit to cleaning a stream at least twice a year and report any pollution problems to the City Contact Center at 373-CITY (2489).
Adopt-a-Street Commit to cleaning up a one-mile section of a Greensboro city street at least four times a year. For more information, call 373-2359.
African American Heritage Extravaganza A family-oriented celebration of African American culture and traditions that includes art and cultural exhibits, music, dance, drumming, crafts, children’s activities, and food. The festival takes place every March at the Greensboro Cultural Center. For information, call 373-2044.

Appliance Disposal To request collection and disposal of discarded appliances, call the City Contact Center at 373-CITY at least 48 hours prior to your garbage collection day.
Arboretum The 17-acre Arboretum features nine permanent plant collections, and a number of special garden areas. For more information, call 373-2199. For garden weddings in the Arboretum, call 373-3655.
Art Alliance of Greensboro Art Alliance of Greensboro/Visual Arts offers fine arts and pottery classes for children and adults. All Art Alliance teachers are professionally trained artists. Open Studio for artists is held Saturday afternoons. Summer Art Camps for children ages 4-12 are also offered. For more information, call 373-2725.
Arts See "City Arts," the visual and performing arts division of the Parks & Recreation Department.
Arts for All An arts program tailor-made for persons with mental, physical and visual disabilities. All disciplines are explored – dance, drama, music and visual arts. For more information, call Caldcleugh Multicultural Center at 373-5881.

Barber Park Barber Park, 1500 Dan's Road, features an indoor sports complex, with eight tennis courts and four volleyball courts, plus an official Bronco Baseball Complex/Stadium and an outdoor amphitheater. For more information, call 373-5886.
Beautification Greensboro Beautiful Inc. is a private, nonprofit volunteer organization that works in partnership with the Parks & Recreation Department to conserve and enhance the beauty and ecology of our community. For more information, call 373-2199.
Beer/Wine Licenses Beer/wine, business, and privilege licenses are available from the City Collections division at 373-2501.
Benjamin Branch Library One of seven branches of the Greensboro Public Library, the Benjamin Branch is located at 1530 Benjamin Parkway. For more information, call 373-7540.
Bicentennial Garden The Bicentennial Garden is located between Hobbs and Holden Roads and features 7.5 acres of blossoming flowers and trees. Walking paths provide views of seasonal bulbs, annuals, shrubs, and other plants. For more information, call 373-2199. For outdoor weddings in the Bicentennial Garden, call 373-2537.
Bicycle Paths The City offers 10 different signed bicycle paths. The Transportation Department provides maps of these bicycle paths, as well as biking rules and regulations. For more information, call 373-4184.
Billboard Permits The Zoning division of the Planning Department issues permits for billboards. For more information, call 373-2630.
Boating The City of Greensboro has three public lakes that provide boating opportunities: • Lake Brandt Marina, 5945 Lake Brandt Road, 373-3741. Rowboats, kayaks, and canoes may be rented. • Lake Higgins Marina, 4235 Hamburg Mill Road, Summerfield, 373-3739. Rowboats, kayaks, and canoes may be rented. • Lake Townsend Marina, 6332 Lake Townsend Road, Browns Summit, 373-3694. Rowboats, kayaks, canoes, sailboats, and a pontoon boat may be rented.

Bog Garden The Bog Garden, adjacent to the Bicentennial Garden, is a one-half mile elevated wooden walkway that provides easy access to trees, wildflowers, shrubs, ferns, bamboo, and other plants native to swamp areas. For more information, call 373-2199.
Brown Recreation Center One of 10 recreation centers in Greensboro, Brown Recreation Center is located at 302 East Vandalia Road. For more information, call 274-3470.
Bryan Park Bryan Park, 6275 Bryan Park Road in Brown Summit, includes two championship golf courses and the 22,000-square-foot Bryan Enrichment Center, a popular site for conferences, weddings, and banquets. For more information, call 375-2222.
Budget & Evaluation The Budget and Evaluation Department offers support to the City organization by analyzing budget requests and recommending expenditure levels and policies in the management and preparation of an annual balanced budget for the City. For more information, call 373-2291.
Building Inspections Development Services reviews new construction plans and provides on-site inspections of residential and commercial buildings, as well as electrical, plumbing, and heating installations. For more information, call 373-2155.

Bur-Mil Park Bur-Mil Park features a variety of recreational opportunities, such as a lighted nine-hole, par three golf course, a driving range, and the Family Aquatic Center. The Bur-Mil Clubhouse has meeting rooms that are available on a rental basis. For more information, call 373-3800.
Bus Information The Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA) operates Greensboro’s public transit system. Evening service is provided until midnight. During inclement weather, limited service is provided. For scheduling information, call 335-6499. GTA also operates the complementary ADA para-transit service, Specialized Community Area Transportation (SCAT), for persons with disabilities traveling within the City limits. Caldcleugh Multicultural Arts Center The Caldcleugh Multicultural Arts Center, 1700 Orchard Street, provides programs for children and adults in arts and crafts, drama, dance, African and steel drums, music, and puppetry. Central Library The Central Library, 219 North Church Street, houses a vast collection of books, magazines, videos, CDs, periodicals, fiction, and non-fiction materials. For more information, call 373-2471.

Children • The Parks & Recreation Department provides classes, programs, and activities for young people through athletics, regional parks, recreation centers, and City Arts. Choral Society of Greensboro A community chorus, the Choral Society of Greensboro is open to adults with singing experience without audition. For more information, call 373-2549.
City Arts City Arts is the visual and performing arts division of the Parks & Recreation Department, featuring instruction in dance, drama, music, and the visual arts. City Council The City Council meets at 5:30 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of each month in the Council Chambers of the Melvin Municipal Office Building, 300 West Washington Street. City Hall The Melvin Municipal Office Building (City Hall), 300 West Washington Street, is named for former Greensboro Mayor Jim Melvin. The MMOB houses many of the City’s administrative offices. City Manager The City Manager’s Office provides administrative leadership to City government, carrying out the policies, programs, ordinances, and resolutions approved by City Council; manages municipal services, departments, and positions created by City Charter; and informs City Council of the City’s financial condition and future financial needs. Coliseum Complex The Greensboro Coliseum Complex consists of the Coliseum Arena, Special Events Center, War Memorial Auditorium, and Pavilion. Collections Water bills, assessments, building inspections permits, redevelopment loans, and parking tickets can be paid at the City’s Collections division. Crime Stoppers! Crime Stoppers! is a program in which citizens are encouraged, via cash rewards and a promise of anonymity, to provide information leading to the arrest and indictment of criminals. For more information, call 373-1000.
