Incentives...
The Economic Development Office develops and provides incentives to qualified companies that want to relocate to Greensboro or to existing companies that wish to expand.

Assistance…
The staff of the Economic Development Team assists businesses that want to grow or relocate in Greensboro's State Development Zone (Eastern, Southern Central or downtown area) by reviewing plans and projects, providing suggestions and ideas, and expediting the review process. The team consists of representatives from Economic Development and number of related City departments. This approach allows us to bring together the right mix of resources to generate development.

Loans…
The Targeted Loan Pool Program provides capital financing for small businesses that would typically be ineligible for a traditional loan. The $1 million loan pool is available to businesses located in or desiring to locate in Greensboro's State Development Zone. The program creates permanent jobs that are made available to low or moderate-income persons for at least one year. One job must be created or retained for each $50,000 loaned. Loans can be made for expansion of existing businesses or for start-up of new businesses. Get more information or a program application.

Opportunities…
The City partners with many organizations that also work to promote economic development, including the Greensboro Economic Development Partnership, the Piedmont Triad Partnership, the Greensboro Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Many of these organizations have information and opportunities available for local businesses.

Outreach…
The Economic Development office reaches out to businesses to determine their needs and to learn more about how the City may assist them.

Guidance…
The Economic Development office serves as a sounding board for new and expanding businesses of any size. With information, training and mentoring opportunities, all offered at no cost, the office can point entrepreneurs in the right direction and connect them with knowledgeable business professionals.
