Official Wording for the 2008 Bond Referendum
The City of Greensboro bond issues will appear on the November ballot as follows:
City of Greensboro, North Carolina Special Bond Referendum - Tuesday, November 4, 2008
Street Improvement Bonds Shall the order adopted on July 16, 2008, authorizing not exceeding $134,000,000 Street Improvement Bonds of the City of Greensboro, North Carolina, for the purpose of providing funds, together with any proceeds of bonds previously issued for street improvements and any other available funds, for providing street and bridge improvements in said City, including, but without limiting the generality of the foregoing, constructing, reconstructing, widening, extending, resurfacing and improving bridges, thoroughfares, streets and roads; constructing, reconstructing, relocating and eliminating grade crossings and grade separations; constructing and installing traffic controls, signals, markers and lighting; constructing sidewalks, bike trails, greenways, curbs, gutters, culverts and drains; and acquiring any necessary rights of way therefor, and authorizing the levy of taxes in an amount sufficient to pay the principal of and the interest on said bonds, be approved?
War Memorial Auditorium Bonds Shall the order adopted on July 16, 2008, authorizing not exceeding $50,000,000 War Memorial Auditorium Bonds of the City of Greensboro, North Carolina, for the purpose of providing funds, together with any other available funds, for renovating the Greensboro War Memorial Auditorium, including, but without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the renovation of the lobby, seating areas and balconies and other structural renovations, and authorizing the levy of taxes in an amount sufficient to pay the principal of and the interest on said bonds, be approved?
Parks and Recreational Facilities Bonds Shall the order adopted on July 16, 2008, authorizing not exceeding $20,000,000 Parks and Recreational Facilities Bonds of the City of Greensboro, North Carolina, for the purpose of providing funds, together with any proceeds of bonds previously issued for parks and recreational facilities and any other available funds, for providing parks and recreational facilities in said City, including, without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the acquisition and improvement of land therefor, the acquisition and installation of equipment and the construction and renovation of athletic facilities, swimming pools, a swimming facility and other recreational facilities, and authorizing the levy of taxes in an amount sufficient to pay the principal of and the interest on said bonds, be approved?
Housing Bonds Shall the order adopted on July 16, 2008, authorizing not exceeding $1,000,000 Housing Bonds of the City of Greensboro, North Carolina, for the purpose of providing funds, together with any other available funds, for providing and improving housing for persons within the City, including, but without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the acquisition, rehabilitation and construction of housing facilities, and the providing of loans, grants, interest supplements and other programs of financial assistance to residents of the City and developers of housing for residents of the City, and authorizing the levy of taxes in an amount sufficient to pay the principal of and the interest on said bonds, be approved?
