Who May Serve

Any resident of Greensboro is eligible to serve on a board or commission.

Some boards require members with specific interests or credentials, or members who belong to a specific organization or group. For instance, one appointee made by the Council to the Greensboro/Guilford County Tourism Development Authority must have demonstrated an interest in the arts and related fields.

City officials are specifically prohibited from serving on some boards or commissions; on others, they are expected to serve. In most cases, board members are everyday citizens who have a desire to make a lasting contribution.
