National Night Out
More than 100 neighborhoods throughout Greensboro braved the heat on August 1 to
participate in National Night Out (NNO). National Night Out, sponsored locally by the Greensboro Police Department, is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, and strengthen partnerships between the police and the community.
Along with traditional displays of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, neighborhoods in Greensboro celebrated NNO with a variety of events and activities such as cookouts, picnics, backyard suppers, visits from firefighters, ice cream parties, watermelon cuttings, and parades.
Government Works Selects 2006 Class
The City of Greensboro is pleased to announce the participants of the third Government Works: A City Academy class. Twenty-five individuals have been selected to learn about Greensboro government with hands-on activities such as operating fire hoses, using the police firing range, and creating a city budget.
The mission of Government Works is to develop future leaders and build a better community through well-informed and civically engaged residents. Classes begin September 7. Applications for the fall 2007 City Academy will be accepted next summer.
Survey Says…
To better serve the Greensboro community, the Greensboro Police Department is asking citizens to complete this survey. The survey is intended to measure the Police Department's effectiveness and to improve the delivery of police services. Please take a few moments to choose the response that best describes your opinion on the questions.
