
Bellamy Names Top Command Staff
The new top commanders begin their official duties today.
Keeping his promise to fill the top vacancies in the Greensboro Police Department by April 18, Chief Tim Bellamy announced the selection of four Assistant Chiefs to help lead the department. The new assistant chiefs are:
- Harold Scott, Patrol Bureau Assistant Chief
- Dwight Crotts, Investigative Bureau Assistant Chief
- Ronald Rogers, Support Bureau Assistant Chief
- Martha Kelly, Management Bureau Assistant Chief
Bellamy also announced the promotion of four lieutenants to captain. The new captains are: Jane Allen, Richard Whisenant, Therron Phipps and Janice Rogers.

National Police Week
You can help honor the men and women who protect and serve our community and our nation.
The week of May 13 is Peace Officers' Memorial Week, designed to honor the dedicated men and women of law enforcement who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The Greensboro Police Department honors its 10 fallen heroes with a variety of community events to recognize those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The events are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to participate:
Saturday, May 12: 5K Run to support Special Olympics. Contact Officer Sherry Ryan at 433-7280.
Wednesday, May 16: Berkley Blanks Golf Tournament at Country Hills Golf Course. Contact Officer Sherry Ryan at 433-7280.
Thursday, May 17: Police and Citizens Appreciation Dinner at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 6 pm.
Friday, May 18: Memorial Ceremony at Phill McDonald Governmental Plaza, 12 noon.
