Leaf Collection Set to Begin Today
By following a few simple rules, you can ensure that your leaves are collected on schedule.
The City’s 2007-2008 leaf collection program begins today, November 12. The program provides residents with two scheduled collections for leaves that are raked to the curb. Leaves that are curbside by November 12 will be picked up by December 15. Leaves that are at the curb by December 17 will be picked up by January 25, 2008. By following a few simple rules, you can ensure that your leaves will be picked up on schedule:
** Place leaves at the edge of your yard, behind the curb (not in the street).
** Rake leaves only; sticks, rocks, and other debris may damage City equipment.
** Don’t park your vehicles or put garbage cans in front of or near your leaves.
** Don’t put your leaves on a tarp.
** If you have both loose leaves and bagged leaves, put them in separate piles. Bagged leaves are collected all year. Simply put them in clear plastic bags for collection on your regular trash collection day.

Don't Waste Another Day
New campaign encourages residents to recycle every day.
In Greensboro, it's easy to recycle! You can recycle 11 different materials just by
placing them in your brown recycling container. To help encourage participation in the program, some of Greensboro's garbage and recycling trucks are now sporting messages that read "Don't Waste Another Day ... Recycle Greensboro!" The signs also feature various recyclable items. Greensboro is an innovator in recycling and was one of the first communities in the United States to use automated collection trucks to pick up recyclables.
