Central LibraryWork on the Central Library includes:

  • Upgrading and installing additional computerized building automation systems to optimally control and monitor heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and lighting systems
  • Recommissioning heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems (HVAC) with new, energy-efficient components and adjusting the controls to optimally efficient settings 
  • Installing a deduct meter to the cooling towers
  • Replacing existing lighting with high-efficiency lighting systems
  • Installing low-flow water fixture systems.

These initiatives are projected to save about $38,100 annually in energy costs for this building.



Work on the Glenwood Library includes:

  • Replacing existing lighting with high-efficiency lighting systems. 

This initiative is projected to save about $500 annually in energy costs for this building.


Work on the Vance Chavis Library includes:

  • Replacing existing lighting with high-efficiency lighting systems
  • Installing low-flow water fixture systems. 

This initiative is projected to save about $800 annually in energy costs for this building.


An Energy Awareness Program that will target workers and visitors to all three of these libraries will be implemented. This campaign will educate building occupants and visitors on ways they can help reduce energy use further through simple behavior modifications.
