Finding Certified Firms
M/WBE firms can be found on the North Carolina Department of Administration's Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) website. Instructions for searching for minority and women-owned / HUB businesses are:

1. Log on to the HUB Office website

2. Click “Search for HUB Vendors”

3. Click “Search for HUB Vendors” again

4. From the HUB Office website, you are only allowed to search for HUB vendors

5. Vendors can be searched multiple ways such as by company name, e-mail address, vendor number, city, county, etc. Note: The City of Greensboro requires inclusion of firms possessing capabilities relevant to the project and having their principle place of business located in Guilford, Alamance, Davidson, Forsyth, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes or Yadkin counties.

6. Select the county or counties. Hold down the control key and click to make multiply selections.

7. Vendors can be searched based on commodity code, construction license, construction code, construction / design services, or work classification / license specialty. Hold down the control key and click to select multiple commodities, constructions codes, services types, and classifications.

8. Click the “Search” button to generate your list of certified HUB vendors

9. To search for the description of the commodity codes, go to the Division of Purchase and Contract website.

10. To view the items listed under a commodity, click the number to the left of the commodity description

11. Once you find the commodity codes that match or come close to the type of vendors you want, use that commodity code to search for the vendors in the HUB database

12. When using the commodity code to search for vendors, use the IPS category instead of the commodity code number to locate the commodity code in the HUB database

13. To create an Excel spreadsheet of the list of certified HUB vendors that has been populated, click “Create Excel Spreadsheet.”
