Free Smoke Detector Placement

Firefighters from the Greensboro Fire Department will routinely visit neighborhoods, reminding residents to check their smoke detectors and install new detectors upon request at no charge.

Smoke detectors should be tested weekly and their batteries changed twice a year. Residents should have one on every level of your home and outside every bedroom.
