FAQs
Q. Can I park in the two-hour parking spaces in the decks?
A. Yes. However, do not exceed the two-hour limit.
Q. What are the parking decks hours?
A. The parking decks are open 24 hours a day. They are physically staffed by personnel from 7:30 am - 7 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 am - 6 pm on Fridays.
Q. How do I sign up for monthly parking?
A. Contact one of the deck attendants for an application. Payment for parking cards is payroll deducted for City of Greensboro employees only. Non-City employees must make payment to the attendant at the time of sign up. This payment includes the monthly charge (or a pro-rated amount if signing up in the middle of the month), plus a card deposit charge, which is half of the monthly parking charge.
Q. What do I do when my card will not work?
A.Sometimes the card is inserted into the reader too fast or too slow. If you have tried several times and it still does not work, take a ticket from the ticket dispenser to enter the deck and see the on-duty attendant. Your card may have been used out of sequence or it may be defective.
Q. Where will the monthly statement be sent?
A.Your monthly statement will be sent to the address you have listed on the application, unless your company handles the payment of your monthly parking costs.
Q. How long does it take to get a deposit refunded?
A.The cancellation forms are prepared at the decks and forwarded to the City’s accounting office. This process takes approximately two weeks.
Q. How long does it take to get a card after my application has been submitted?
A.You will be issued a card when you turn in your application, along with your first month’s rent and a deposit for the card. The card deposit is refundable if your contract is terminated, your card is returned, and if there is no outstanding balance on your account.
Q. Can I have my monthly parking bill set up as a bank draft?
A. Yes. Simply fill out a bank draft form that allows the City of Greensboro to debit your checking account for the cost of the monthly parking bill. These can be obtained at each parking deck office during business hours.
Q. What do I do if there is a problem with a parking meter?
A. Call the Police Department’s Parking Enforcement Division at 373-2216 to advise them of the problem. The Police Department will notify the Parking Division of the problem. This also makes the Police aware of the problem meter in the event they are ticketing in that area for the day.
Q. Where can I pay my parking ticket?
A. As a courtesy to the citizens of Greensboro, the City-owned parking decks will take your payment for parking violations and forward them to the Collections Division at the Melvin Municipal Office Building (MMOB).
Additionally, you may:
