Lane Closure Permits
A permit to block a sidewalk and/or street is required whenever a portion of a sidewalk and/or street is to be blocked in any way that will alter traffic flow, affect parking, or alter pedestrian patterns. Permits to block a sidewalk and/or street shall be issued in accordance with all the requirements of Chapter 18, Article III, and Chapter 26, Article I of the Greensboro Code of Ordinances, Chapter XXIV of the North Carolina State Building Code, Part VI of Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and with the City’s Work Area Traffic Control Handbook, published by the Greensboro Department of Transportation, and of any other limitations that may be set forth in the permit.
All permits to block travel lanes should conform to the City of Greensboro Peak Hour Traffic Disruption Policy.
A fee of $30 is required for permits to block City streets or sidewalks. For any event that exceeds three days, a fee of $60 is required for a period of up to one month and thereafter $30 for each additional month.
