The Roundabout - a Newer and Safer Intersection for Greensboro
 The City of Greensboro has completed its first two modern roundabouts. A roundabout is a circular intersection that lowers driving speeds and lessens the likelihood of accidents. This is accomplished by eliminating left turns across traffic. Conflict points, or opportunities for collisions are reduced from the standard 32 per four-way intersection to only eight. Roundabouts also provide safer passage for pedestrians with splitter islands on all sides that require pedestrians to cross only one lane of traffic at a time.
Roundabouts are in place in the following areas:
Greene and McGee Streets
North Elm Street and Lake Jeanette Road
