Big Bills? GTA has 'Change For You'
Beginning Saturday, May 7, GTA riders will be able to receive change from their cash fare purchases in the form of a change card. The card can be used on future GTA/HEAT trips until the balance is depleted. Some restrictions and rules apply. Visit the change card page for more information.
HEAT Service Ends for Semester on May 10
HEAT will end its service for the summer on Tuesday, May 10, though students can continue to use GTA services fare-free throughout the summer. The last days of service are listed below for individual HEAT routes:
- Wednesday, May 4 - Route 78
- Friday, May 6 - Routes 70, 71, 72, 73, 75, 76
- Tuesday, May 10 - Route 74
*Please note: On May 5-6 Route 72 will operate on a modified route and Route 73 will operate one bus for service. Also, Route 75 will operate one bus from May 2-6. Route 70/71 will not offer late night service May 5-6.
Pledge to Take the Challenge to Clear the Air!
The 2011 Triad Commute Challenge is quickly approaching. Do your part to clear the air by using alternative forms of transportation including the bus. The challenge once again begins with the Commuter Dash 5K Run/Walk on April 9 at Bur-Mil Park. Get more details at the TCC website.
GTA Goes Hybrid
New transit technology has come to Greensboro! GTA is serving our riders using brand-new 40-foot diesel electric Hybrid buses. These vehicles are anticipated to offer fuel savings, a quieter ride, and lower environmental impact. Watch this video to learn more about these hybrid buses as part of GTA's continuing commitment to environmental stewardship.
Construction Continues on our New Home!
Construction continues at a feverish pace on the new GTA Operations and Maintenance Facility and Administrative Offices. The 64,000-square-foot, three-level building is expected to be completed by September 2011. Follow the construction on our flickr site.
Batteries Running Low? Have a Charge on Us! As a benefit to our riders, GTA has installed a new charging station in the GTA waiting area of the J. Douglas Galyon Depot. The kiosk will allow up to eight devices to charge at a time while riders are waiting for the bus. Use it for laptops, e-readers, iPods, cell phones or any of your portable electronic devices. Don't forget...free Wi-Fi is available at the Depot as well. GTA keeps you connected during your commute!
