As part of the new service, HEAT and GTA held a Bus Design Contest in early 2006. The purpose was to gather student input on the look of the new buses scheduled to be placed into service. We thank all of the students who took the time to provide entries. One entry was unanimously chosen to represent the HEAT service. Check out the result of their entry!

Rules:

• One entry may be submitted per student currently enrolled at Bennett College, Elon University*, Greensboro College, Guilford College, Guilford Technical Community College or The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. *HEAT transit will serve the Law School campus only.
• Contestants may use any design medium, including inks, pencils, and computer software.
• Submissions must be made on 8½ by 11 inches maximum paper size. Computer entries must be made in a .pdf format.
• Any or all portions of any entry submission may be used by HEAT, its institutional partners or Greensboro Transit Authority without compensation.
• All entries become the property of HEAT and Greensboro Transit Authority and will not be returned.
• All decisions made by the judges are final.
• Entries must be accompanied by a signed entry form available at www.rideheat.com  
• All entrants agree to allow their name, likeness, and artwork to be used for HEAT promotional purposes.
• Contest prizes are one Apple iPod .mp3 player and two gift certificates to a winner-chosen college bookstore, Barnes and Noble Booksellers or Borders Books and Music.  Winners are responsible for any associated taxes on winnings.

• Don't limit yourself to the white space on the bus. Advanced vinyl graphic coverings
  
  allow images to be placed over windows while still maintaining visibility from the inside.
• This service represents students from a number of Greensboro schools, so be mindful that your design does not display images associated with one particular institution.
• The official HEAT colors are red (Pantone 485c), orange (Pantone 144c), black and white. But again, don't limit yourself... let your creative juices flow!
