Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program
The Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) is a detailed list of transportation projects that have federal and state funding. The MTIP is a federally required planning document consistent with the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The MTIP shows the funding schedule for highway, public transportation, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian facilities in the MPO area.

The MTIP is intended to inform the public about transportation project schedules and the MTIP development process, and to provide the opportunity to interested residents to submit comments. All comments are given consideration and are included with MPO comments to NCDOT.

Projects in the MTIP include those developed through the MPO's ongoing Priority Needs Process. The projects reflect those identified in the MPO's Long-Range Transportation Plan.

Before adoption, the MTIP is reviewed by the Federal Highway Administration for Air Quality Conformity
-- conformity with air quality regulations and the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. A Conformity Determination Report is posted on the MPO's website when issued.

The MPO's Transportation Advisory Committee adopted the most recent MTIP for the Greensboro Urban Area on August 27, 2008. NCDOT adopted its STIP for fiscal years 2009 through 2015 in July 2008 and is expected to amend it to include any changes in projects or funding as they may arise.
