East Guilford County Traffic Separation Study
The East Guilford County Traffic Separation Study was prepared by the North Carolina Department of Transportation Rail Division. The study examined the interactions of motor vehicles and trains along the North Carolina Railroad line from Greensboro east through Gibsonville with the purpose of improving safety. The goals of the study included:
- Identifying existing safety concerns
- Enhancing railroad and vehicular safety
- Maintaining citizen mobility
- Improving local traffic circulation.
The document contains evaluations of 23 public railroad crossings and recommendations divided into Near-Term, Mid-Term, and Long-Term projects.
All recommended improvements need appropriate funding sources in order to implement.
