Guilford Metro 9-1-1 handles all 911 calls for residents of Greensboro and Guilford County (except High Point). When a call is received, telecommunicators who have been trained in all types of emergencies ask specific protocol-based questions to determine what type of assistance is needed – fire department, law enforcement, emergency medical services, emergency management or another agency. In most cases, while you are still on the phone with the call taker, another telecommunicator is dispatching the appropriate resources. Most calls to 911 can be divided into one of four categories:
