January 8: Calligraphy
Join us for an introduction to the art of beautiful writing. Learn basic letter forms and practice with both markers and pen and ink.
February 12: Drawing
Try your hand at drawing with pencil and charcoal after a demonstration by our guest artist.
March 11: Drawing on the computer
Get a look at some great free online drawing sites and get a little hands on experience using our laptops.
April 8: Abstract Spray Paint Art
Sam Musgrove, a teen volunteer at Hemphill, will demonstrate a technique he developed for painting with spray paint.
May 13: Watercolor
Join us for a demonstration and hands on experience with watercolor materials and techniques.
June 10: Beading
Meet our guest artist and make a piece of jewelry with beads. You’ll also learn a little about the history of beads around the world.
July 8: Acrylic Painting
Meet our guest artist for a demonstration of acrylic techniques. Then paint from life, a photograph, or your imagination.
August 12: Drawing
Explore several mediums: pencil, charcoal, pastel. Compare and contrast with some online drawing experience.
September 9: Scrapbooking
By popular demand we will have a session covering some of the creative things you can do with scrapbooking. We will have supplies but bring photos and extra supplies if you have them!
October 14: Graphic Design
Meet our guest artist, and experience some graphics programs online.
November 11: Collage
Use mixed media to make a masterpiece of your own and see what some contemporary artists are doing with collage.
December 9: Holiday Glitz and Glitter
Make something wacky, tacky or beautiful with a selection of materials. Materials provided but feel free to bring old ornaments to improve upon.
