Bioblitz in Price Park!

Saturday, May 15
Time: TBA
Meet at Kathleen Clay Library
1420 Price Park Rd.

Join us for this exciting event as we explore the biodiversity found in Greensboro's own Price Park.

What's a bioblitz?
A "bioblitz" is an event designed to identify as many species of plants and animals as possible in a given site within a set period of time.  The Audubon Society chose Price Park because of its rich variety of habitats, from the hardwood forest and meadows to its meandering stream and adjacent lake.

No experience necessary!
This event is open to anyone who wishes to participate, regardless of your current knowledge of plants and animal species. Participants will be able to join groups led by herpetologists, lepidopterists, ornithologists, botanists, and general naturalists as we scan the sky, peer under rocks, dip critters from the creek, and look for butterflies and other insects in the meadows and forest edges. Each walk will last about two hours, and participants can change groups as often as they wish in order to cover the wildlife groups that interest them. For folks who wish to stay after dark, we will have groups identifying bats, moths and night-calling frogs!

Volunteers and Group Leaders
In addition to plant and animal group participants, we'll need volunteers to help make the day run smoothly, so if you want to get service credit, this will be a great way to do it. Volunteers will set up, staff booths, organize groups, collect species documentation, shoot pictures, and help wrap things up at the end. We also need taxa specialists to co-lead groups and act as informal teachers throughout the day.

Credit for Participating
Teachers may receive certificates for Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and EE Certification credit will be available.
