S. A. Everett to Alphonso Smith, July 22, 1916.  This letter is in the "Porter, Margaret – Correspondence" folder.

July 22nd, 1916

Dear Dr. Smith:

I think Mr. Arthur Page or Russell Doubleday has already written you that Miss Margaret Porter, now Mrs. Cesare, is entirely willing to trust your judgment in the matter of the letters to be published in the "O. Henry Biography."  This morning there is a telegram from Mrs. Sidney Porter, reading: "Secure in Dr. Smith's hands."  I send this information at once, as both Mr. Page and Mr. Doubleday are absent from the office.

Very sincerely yours,

S. A. Everett [signed]
