Benjamin Branch Library Serves A Verdant Breakfast

March 2 at 8:30 am

Over 70 first grade students from General Greene Elementary will enjoy a breakfast of green eggs and ham to celebrate Dr. Seuss and Read Across America. March 2 is Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America is an annual celebration of reading sponsored by the National Education Association (NEA) and Random House.

“This will be our Third Annual Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast,” says children’s librarian Mark Taylor. “We think this is an ideal way for the children to make a connection with the book.”

In addition to a hearty green breakfast, the students will also enjoy excerpts from Dr. Seuss read by special guests. Assistant City Manager Bob Morgan will be on hand to read and serve breakfast as will Marilyn Miller, president of the Friends of the Greensboro Public Library. And making a special appearance this year: the Cat In The Hat.
