Book Release Party & Reception Saturday, May 12 at 2 pm, Hemphill Library
Hemphill Library families created Tell Me a Patch, a tale about a worried throw pillow, rowdy library furniture and a storytelling, patchwork chair. The book is based on a Story Quilt project from the Summer of 2006.
Library patrons met with writer Susie Wilde and played games to invent characters, define conflicts and discover sparkling words. Story illustrations were created with the help of textile artist Peg Gignoux as participants artfully blended cloth with dyes, inks, patterns and symbols.
Everyone who comes to the book release party will receive their own copy of Tell Me a Patch. Light refreshments will be served and the story quilt will be on display in the Children’s Room.
This project was funded by the Tannenbaum-Sternberger Foundation, supported by Art Quest and created by Hemphill patrons to honor the retirement of Bill Hemphill, a man who loves books, children and art.
