McGirt-Horton Branch Library Closing During Move to New Facility
GREENSBORO, NC (June 18, 2010) -- The McGirt-Horton Branch of the Greensboro Public Library will be closed July 11 through July 28 as staff move books and other library resources into its new facility. The new facility, located at 2509 Phillips Ave., will open at 12 noon on July 29.
While the branch is closed, customers will be able to return books in the current outdoor book return. Books on hold can be picked up at Central Library.
In 2006, voters approved $3.5 million to construct a new home for the McGirt-Horton Library. The new 10,000 square foot building will be located in the same shopping center at the corner of Phillips and Woodbriar avenues as the current facility. This building will be one of the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified libraries in North Carolina.
