Telecommunications


The mission of the City of Greensboro’s Telecommunications Division is to provide quality customer-oriented services to the departments and employees of the City of Greensboro. The Telecommunications staff of four works closely with all City departments to identify current and future telephone needs.

The City uses a Cisco Voice over IP system comprised of four CallManager servers, two Unified Messaging servers, two Customer Contact servers, and two Emergency Responder servers. The Telecommunications division supports about 2,100 devices with an average monthly call volume of 575,000 calls. In addition to providing telecommunications services, the division also oversees all aspects relating to the 950 cellular devices and services used within the City.

Telecommunications also has the responsibility of maintaining the Local and Metropolitan Area Network infrastructure for all sites and buildings owned by the City of Greensboro.
