Frank Sharpe Jr. Wildlife Education Center Intern (at Bur-Mil Park) This intern will be responsible for researching and developing new displays related to wildlife and environmental issues in NC, research grants for funding, plan and implement wildlife and environmental programs, coordinate class schedules and provide customer service to patrons. Intern must have experience working with public and knowledge or experience with environmental issues or NC wildlife and be willing to work flexible hours including nights and weekends. A typical schedule is Wednesday-Sunday 9 am to 5 pm, but may include evenings if needed. This internship/practicum is unpaid and offers educational credit and experience only. Paid opportunities may be available based on need and qualifications of intern.
Bur-Mil Park Operations Assistant (Filled) This intern will be exposed to a variety of the operational functions at Bur-Mil Park including planning, supervising, customer service, maintenance, management and clerical duties. The intern will learn about the different facilities at the park including golf course and driving range, aquatic center, wildlife education center, and clubhouse as well as the outdoor areas. Some of the tasks in which the intern/practicum will be assisting include planning special events, budgeting, revising manuals, assisting with customers and volunteer groups, and maintenance. Intern must be willing to work flexible hours including nights and weekends. This internship/practicum is unpaid and offers educational credit and experience only. A typical schedule is Monday-Friday 9 am to 5 pm, but may but may require some nights and weekends as needed. Paid hours may be available based on need and qualifications of intern.
Bur-Mil Park Marketing Internship (Filled) This intern will work closely with the Program Coordinator to help with marketing efforts for facilities, upcoming programs and special events. The intern will assist with the development of a marketing plan, write press releases, design flyers, assist with public speaking engagements, research new and innovative marketing techniques and areas such as social media. This intern should have good customer service skills, basic computer skills, and good written and verbal skills. This internship/practicum is unpaid and offers educational credit and experience only. Cross training in other areas of the park is possible. This schedule is mostly weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm, but may require some nights and weekends as needed. Paid opportunities may be available based on need and qualifications of intern.
Bur-Mil Park Clubhouse Intern (Filled) This intern will learn all aspects of managing a public meeting and events facility. The intern will assist the clubhouse manager in event planning including assisting customers, linen and food orders, room layouts, event host and bar reports, supply inventories, preparing leases, addendums and invoices, marketing, and clubhouse program planning. The intern should have good customer service skills, good written and verbal skills, basic computer skills (primarily Word and Excel), and willing to work flexible hours including nights and weekends. This internship/practicum is unpaid and offers educational credit and experience only. Paid opportunities may be available based on need and qualifications of intern.
