Fun For All Playground 
"Fun For All" PlaygroundA group of concerned parents approached the management of Hagan-Stone Park with an offer to raise funds for playground equipment to be used by children of all abilities. Currently, much of the play equipment in the park complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), but is not fully accessible for children with mobility limitations. As a result, a playground committee was formed to investigate acquiring new handicap accessible play equipment.

More diverse playground concepts and designs have been developed and evaluated, and the committee is asking for community support to make this playground a reality. Only with your help will we be able to provide an accessible playground for all children to enjoy, including Camp Joy participants. It is the hope of the committee to generate enough funds to be able to install the equipment (phase I) and then continue fundraising efforts to complete the entire project (phase II). The cost of the equipment, installation and cushioning material is estimated at $120,000. Currently, the committee is more than halfway toward its goal for phase I. As of September, the committee has been able to raise $75,169.70.

Currently, we have raised more than $75,000, so as we begin the year-long celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department, we encourage you to donate at least $75 to help us reach our next $75,000 goal. If just 1,000 people gave $75 each, we would reach that goal quickly. We invite you to join our community fundraiser to build a fantastic handicapped accessible "Fun For All" playground at Hagan-Stone Park. The new playground will include large ramps for wheelchair and walker accessibility and lots of creative play equipment for all kids. Your tax-deductible contributions will help generate funds to make this playground a reality. Donations in any amount will be greatly appreciated by all the children!
