Lake Higgins Built in 1956, Lake Higgins is a 226-acre municipal reservoir. The lake was later named in honor of former City Councilman, Vic Higgins, who served from 1955 to 1957. Lake Higgins is located on Hamburg Mill Road, off Highway 220 North.
At Lake Higgins, you can fish from a boat or pier, or go kayaking or canoeing. You can also rent a rowboat, kayak or canoe. A boat ramp is available for launching boats.
The Taylor Turner Hatchery Pond, established in 1988, is used to nurture catfish and trout in season. The pond can accommodate as many as 6,000 fish at a time. Lake Higgins also has a classroom for educational programs.
Lake Higgins is closed on Mondays.
