Stay Current with Greensboro Trail Planning
The Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) adopted the Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenway Master Plan (BiPed) in 2006. The BiPed Plan is now undergoing its first update. Goals include noting accomplishments since adoption, streamlining content for easier readability, and updating BiPed priorities.
The update will also provide residents an opportunity to refine, expand, and prioritize the original recommendations. A series of public workshops throughout the MPO area will give residents an opportunity to provide input on the BiPed update. For more information on upcoming public workshops visit this BiPed Update page.

Trails & Marina Access
Lake Higgins and Lake Brandt Watershed Parks offer parking access to many of our watershed trails including: Lake Higgins Trail Bald Eagle Trail Nat Greene Trail Jesse Wharton Interpretive Trail Wild Turkey Trail
Park gates close at various times throughout the year, so be aware of posted closing times. If you don't get your vehicle by closing, it may be locked in the park. If this happens, call the Greensboro Police Department at 373-2222 and ask to be let out or leave your vehicle until gates open in the morning. Check the Watershed Parks website for more information on closing times. Thank you and enjoy the trails.
Watershed Trails Now Have Rescue Markers
The Watershed Trails have been updated with new trail markers (see sample right). These markers, posted every quarter mile, contain valuable safety information, trail mileage, and a unique number for each trail. People on the trail can use the numbers to indicate to emergency services where they are in case they are injured. Please carry a cell phone and use these markers to keep track of your location in the case of an emergency.
