The Lake Higgins Trail is a short loop trail that starts and ends at the Lake Higgins Marina. This trail traverses through predominantly pine forest and is frequently used by park naturalists as an outdoor classroom. Hikers can observe diverse flora and fauna along the Lake Higgins Trail. Along the way, you may spot a bald eagle known to nest near
Lake Higgins . This trail is also a great hike for small children as it is a relatively short distance.
 

How do I get there?

The Lake Higgins Trail is located near the parking area for the Lake Higgins Marina. The Marina is located on Hamburg Mill Road, one-quarter mile west of US Highway 220 North. The trail is accessible on the western side of the parking area. Feel free to visit the Marina office and ask the rangers for information on the types of plants and wildlife found along the trail.

 

Please Note:

Please note that the Lake Higgins Marina is closed Mondays. Bicycles are prohibited on the Lake Higgins Trail. The trail runs close to the Bald Eagle Trail at several points. Watch for the trail markers!
