The Parks and Recreation Department recognizes volunteers as an essential component in the success of the Department’s commitment to the citizens of Greensboro. Recognitions include thank you letters, certificates, and plaques. In addition, some sections within the Department's five divisions have annual volunteer recognition awards dinners or banquets.

Each section within a division has the option to base the type of recognition given to reflect the amount of hours volunteered, the difficulty or experience required for the assignment, or other influential factors.
