General Information for Youth Sports Registration The following items are required to complete registration for the youth sports programs:
- completion of the program registration form
- a copy of the child's birth certificate
- a copy of the parent's PAYS membership card
- payment of the program registration fee.
For additional information, call the program coordinator located within the information of each sport or contact athletics by e-mail.
Game Cancelations To check on possible cancelation or last minute changes to game or playoff schedules due to inclement weather or special situations, please call the Athletics Game Cancelation Line at 336-373-2366. Information will be put on the cancelation line for weekday events no earlier than 4:30 pm and for Saturday and Sunday events no earlier than 7:30 am.
Baseball Youth Baseball is offered for kids ages 7-14 and emphasizes fun while teaching basic skills as participants move toward competitive play. Seven to 10-year-olds are not required to try out for teams. Players age 11 or older may be cut from teams based on skill levels, but every effort is made to place them on teams. The age cut-off date for all age groups is April 30. Leagues are made up of Greensboro Parks & Recreation teams, which are charged a team entry fee, and associations that set their own fees and select their own coaches. Some teams are sponsored by local businesses, but additional fees may be assessed for each player to cover the cost of equipment, uniforms, and other items.

Youth Baseball By-Laws
Bitty Ball The Bitty Ball program is an introduction to baseball for 4, 5 and 6 year olds. Four year olds will play strictly by the T-ball format and 5-6 year olds will play together using a modified T-ball format. Age groups will be based on the player's age as of April 30. Players are taught basic skills with an emphasis on having fun. Registration will begin in mid-February and games will begin in early April. For more information, call Paula Boykin at 336-373-2946.
Football The Youth Football program is open to ages 7 to 9 (Pee Wee League), and ages 10 to 12 (Mite League). Players ages are determined by an October 16 cutoff date. The maximum weight limit for all players is 125 pounds for Pee Wees and 145 pounds for Mites. Registration is June 1 through July 3. Practices begin in August and the season begins after Labor Day. A birth certificate and a PAYS card are required to be shown paying the registration fee. For additional information, call April Hawkins at 336-373-2174.

Cheerleading The Youth Cheerleading program is open to ages 7-12. The age cut-off date is October 16. Volunteer coaches from participating recreation centers and youth athletic associations work with children on the latest in cheerleading chants, cheers, and dances. Cheerleading registration takes place during the month of June. Youth football games begin in September. The registration fee is $20 per person. An additional uniform is required after each team's first meeting in June. For additional information, call Gregg Everett at 336-373-2794.
Registration for the 2011 Youth Cheerleading Program is 8 am to 5 pm Wedneday, June 1, through Thursday, June 30, at the Farmers' Curb Market, 501 Yanceyville St. On-site registration is also at the following locations:

Soccer The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department partners with the Greensboro Youth Soccer Association (GYSA) to provide recreational youth soccer leagues in Greensboro. GYSA sponsors fall leagues for 4 year olds and up, with registration in late May through mid-June. Both the GYSA (for 4-6 year olds) and the Parks and Recreation Department (for 7 year olds and up) sponsor spring leagues with registration in November. Player eligibility is based on the player's age from August 1 through July 31 of the given year. Parents need to complete the PAYS Program as a part of player registration. Team registration fees are $150 for the 7-8 year old age group, $300 for the 9-10 year old age group and $350 for 11 year olds and up. Girls Fast Pitch Softball The Girls Fast Pitch program is a cooperative venture between Greensboro Parks & Recreation and the Girls Fast Pitch Softball Association (GGFSA ). The program helps to improve skills and brings the fast-paced game to youth in preparation for school competition. Age groups are 6-8 year olds, 9-11 year olds, 12-14 year olds, 12-14 year olds and 15 years and up. Registration is held in April. The season runs May-July. Lacrosse The Lacrosse Program is a cooperative venture between the Triad Youth Lacrosse Association (TYLA) and Greensboro Parks & Recreation to provide the opportunity for beginners through junior varsity-level to learn the sport in preparation for school competition.
