Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Who can audition?
Anyone. Each group under the City Arts Drama Center focuses on a specific age group to give everyone a better chance at lead roles. The Greensboro Children's Theatre auditions grades 4-9;  The Livestock Players auditions grades 9 - age 20 and 3rd Stage Theatre Company is open to age 16 and older. Additional opportunities for adults are available through the Greensboro Playwrights' Forum and Greene Pictures.

What do I need to bring to auditions?
Yourself and a calendar. At our auditions you will be asked to fill out a form with your contact information and any conflicts you might have with our rehearsal schedule. You will be asked to read from the script. If the audition is for a musical you will be asked to bring a prepared song with the sheet music. You don't have to learn the whole song; 16 bars is fine. You may be asked to learn a small dance combination as part of the audition, so wear or bring clothes and shoes you can move in.

Do I need prior experience to audition?
No. Many people get their first roles at the City Arts Drama Center. We are excited about the numerous people who started in our program with no experience and have gone on to professional careers in entertainment. Our objective is to provide a fun learning experience and recreational opportunity for everyone interested in the performing arts.

Where do I perform?
We perform at the City Arts Studio Theatre in the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St., Weaver Academy for the Performing Arts, 300 S. Spring St. and Odell Auditorium on the campus of Greensboro College, 815 W. Market St..
