GYC Leadership Trainings
In the fall of 2006, GYC began its new leadership training certifications. After much evaluation of the trainings, GYC has decided to combine the Government and Future Leaders trainings and simply call them Leadership Trainings.To receive certification, students must participate fully in nine of the thirteen options throughtout the school year. Classes are offered to any interested high school or home-school student in Guilford County. Below are the times and dates for the training offered for the 2008-2009 year.
Fall 2008 Leadership Trainings:
- Big Sweep: Saturday, September 13, 9:30 am-noon
- Sign Language: Tuesday, September 30, 6:30-8 pm
- Public Speaking: Tuesday, October 14, 6:30-8 pm
- Mayor's Teen Summit: Monday, October 27, time TBA
- Banking and Finance: Tuesday, October 28, 6:30-8 pm
- Kid's Voting: Tuesday, November 4, a two hour shift sometime between 6 am-6 pm
(must call to sign up for a shift)
- Sexual Attitudes: Saturday, November 15, 10 am-noon
Spring 2009 Leadership Trainings:
- Jail Tour: Monday, January 26, time TBA
- Career Exploration (Applying for a Job): Tuesday, February 17, 6:30-8 pm
- Healthy Living: Tuesday, February 24, 6:30-8 pm
- Sexual Attitudes: Saturday, March 7, 10 am-noon
- Cooking: Monday, March 30, 6:30-8 pm
- Big Sweep: Saturday, April 11, 9 am-noon
