On June 15, 2010, Greensboro City Council adopted an amendment to the City Code to replace the previous Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) with a newly created Land Development Ordinance (LDO). The LDO and UDO are part of the City Code and relate to the development of land.

As part of that action, City Council decided anyone developing land within the City's jurisdiction could either use the regulations contained within the LDO (after July 1, 2010) or continue to use the UDO until July 1, 2011.
