Greening Greensboro

Beauty  ~ Shade  ~ Sustainability  ~ Community

Trees are a significant asset to our community and they highlight the beauty of nature. Recognizing the importance of trees in our community, the Greensboro City Council adopted the Tree Preservation and Landscape Ordinance. To honor projects that exceed and creatively embrace this ordinance, the Advisory Commission on Trees and the Greensboro Planning Department created the Greening Greensboro Awards. By thoughtfully incorporating reforestation and tree preservation techniques, previous winners have exhibited ways to protect our environment through forest stewardship.

The Planning Department accepts nominations for the awards throughout the year. Anyone wanting to nominate a development project that has exhibited outstanding environmental stewardship in the preservation or reforestation of trees can submit an application and return it to the Urban Forester at the addresses listed below. Nominations will be presented to the Advisory Commission on Trees and successful nominees will be presented an award before City Council.

The wonder is that we can see these trees and not wonder more.
