Land Development Ordinance - Public Hearing Draft

Greensboro recently adopted its first Comprehensive Plan for the City. “Connections 2025” is the result of more than two years of community input and discussion. The plan provides a vision for growth and development in Greensboro over the next 20 years. 

Now, the City will revise its land development regulations to implement that vision. This new Land Development Ordinance (LDO) will provide one source for standards and regulations related to land use and development in the City. This new LDO will replace the current Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), which has been in place since 1992.

This ordinance revision process has been ongoing for more than five years and it is now in its final stages. Staff is currently in the process of preparing the public hearing draft, which is available for download below. The public comment period ended on September 30, 2009.

Staff is preparing the draft LDO for public hearing and it's tentatively scheduled to go before City Council for adoption in February 2010. On November 16, there will be a joint Zoning Commission and Planning Board hearing to receive public input on the draft LDO. This hearing will be held in City Council Chamber, Melvin Municipal Office Building, beginning at 5:30 pm. Please check back to this page regularly for up-to-date information and materials.
