Residential Statistical Areas
News / Features
New demographics will be released from the Census Bureau in 2010. This site is being revised to fit better with the eventual annual updates from the American Community Survey. New information (maps, RSA demographics) will be posted as it becomes available. If you have an urgent need for such data before then, contact Amy Nelson at (336) 412-5759.
What is a Residential Statistical Area (RSA)?
Residential statistical areas are contiguous census groupings with similar socioeconomic characteristics. These areas are compatible with the geography of the US Census Bureau and have been used as the basis for compiling, tabulating, and analyzing census data. Typical residential statistical areas might be comprised of older established or new residential subdivisions, HUD target areas, public housing communities, townhouses/condominium areas and historic districts.
