American Institute of Architects
  The American Institute of Architects, founded in 1857, is a community of 80,000 licensed architects and associated professionals.

American Planning Association
  APA is a nonprofit public interest and research organization committed to urban, suburban, regional, and rural planning.

American Society of Landscape Architects
  Founded in 1899, the American Society of Landscape Architects is the national professional association representing landscape architects. It promotes the landscape architecture profession and advances the practice through advocacy, education, communication, and fellowship.

Association for Community Design
  Established in 1977, the Association for Community Design (ACD) is a network of individuals, organizations, and institutions committed to increasing the capacity of planning and design professions to better serve communities. ACD serves and supports practitioners, educators, and organizations engaged in community-based design and planning.

Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum
  Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution is the only museum in the nation devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design. The Museum presents compelling perspectives on the impact of design on daily life through active educational and curatorial programming. It is the mission of Cooper-Hewitt’s staff and Board of Trustees to advance the public understanding of design across the twenty-four centuries of human creativity represented by the Museum’s collection.

National Building Museum
  Created by an act of Congress in 1980, the National Building Museum is America's premier cultural institution dedicated to exploring and celebrating architecture, design, engineering, construction, and urban planning.

National Trust for Historic Preservation
  The National Trust for Historic Preservation is a private, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to saving historic places and revitalizing America's communities.

North Carolina American Planning Association
  The purposes of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association are to:
  • Provide leadership in the development of sound planning policies and practices in North Carolina 
  • Provide continuing planning education to foster the growth of professional planners’ knowledge and skill 
  • Foster the growth of professional identity 
  • Increase awareness of the planning process, the planning profession and the benefits that both can bring to the citizens of North Carolina.

Saving Spaces
  The City of Wilmington recently hosted the “Saving Spaces – Progressive Designs for Infill Lots” competition. The competition was a juried architectural design competition/exhibition to develop a design catalogue of economical single-family and duplex housing infill units for use within the context of Wilmington’s Historic Districts.

Smart Growth Network
  The SGN works to encourage development that serves the economy, community and the    environment. It is a forum for:

  • Raising public awareness of how growth can improve community quality of life;
  • Promoting smart growth best practices;
  • Developing and sharing information, innovative policies, tools and ideas;
  • Cultivating strategies to address barriers to and advance opportunities for smart growth
    Urban Land Institute.

United States Green Building Council
  The US Green Building Council's core purpose is to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.

Urban Land Institute
  Founded in 1936, the mission of the Urban Land Institute is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide.
