Resources for Residents - Community Resource Officers
The Greensboro Police Department wants to help! Most officers entered this profession to serve their communities. One of the ways we serve you is through Community Resource Officers (CROs). Community Resource Officers are a special team
of sworn law enforcement officers. Their main objective is to help the community address problems. They can be your link to long-term solutions because they are familiar with their assigned community and they are creative problem-solvers.
Your Community Resource Officer will help you determine the best long-term solution to a problem so that your community will be a better, safer place. They can assist you in starting a community watch in your neighborhood and are available to speak at neighborhood meetings.
CROs have access to many resources to help address problems. Some of these resources include:
- Vice/Narcotics Unit
- Tactical Special Enforcement Teams (TSET)
- Criminal Investigations Division
- Code Enforcement
- Traffic Enforcement Team
- Department of Social Services (DSS)
- Water Resources
- Center City Resource Team
- Inspections Department
- Crime Analysis
- School Resource Officers
- Patrol Division
Your CRO may use a combination of these resources or others to address different aspects of the problem. The community has long been one of the Police Department’s most valuable assets. If you would like the name and number of the Community Resource Officer for your neighborhood, call Community Affairs at (336) 373-2636.
