Internal Affairs
Internal Affairs handles internal administrative investigations related to alleged member misconduct. IA also is the Department’s control agent in all investigations of citizen complaints and directly investigates complaints that involve use of force resulting in serious injury to a citizen, alleged violations of criminal laws by a member or alleged immoral conduct by a member. IA conducts administrative investigations into certain incidents due to the magnitude and/or sensitivity of the incident even if a citizen complaint has not been received. In addition, IA coordinates background investigations for all applicants applying for police department employment.

Staff Inspections
Staff Inspections conducts inspections of various districts, divisions, and sections of the Department as directed by the Chief of Police. Inspection results are prepared in report form to advise the Chief of Police of those activities inspected. Reports include, but are not limited to, efficiency/economy of operations and conditions or situations requiring remedial action.
